Anna
is from the small village of San Rafael,
high in the southern part of the Sierra
Madre mountain range. She likes to embroider
cloth napkins, wash clothes (she won’t
let anybody wash her clothes, in fact!).
Since she just arrived here with us, she’s
still trying to get adjusted, and doesn’t
like to go to school yet, because she’s
ashamed of not being able to read and
write, like the other kids. She has two
brothers: Ricardo and Alberto. |

Jonathan
is happy, since he’s now able to
be together with his brother, so nobody
can keep them apart. He loves to play
soccer, and even though he doesn’t
yet know how to swim, he says he also
likes the swimming pool. Jonathan and
his brother don’t know who their
father is, and say that they want to go
to school, since their mother asked them
to do so. She has no means of taking care
of her boys, so their welfare depends
on the Marsh Home. |

recently arrived to live with us at the
Marsh Home. |

wanted to come live with us and arrived
here on his own, leaving his brothers
who had to stay behind in the village.

like he did in his own home. He wants
to be a singer; in fact he spends everyday
singing! |

as she can. She is very happy at the Marsh
Home and says that in her village she
had no opportunity to attend school, didn’t
have a clean, nice place to stay, and
nowhere adequate to sleep; in fact, her
home lacked many things. She is very enthusiastic
about studying and becoming successful
in a career. |
