We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Jim and Lynn Smith, from Port Washington, New York, who recently Visited the Marsh Home.

Jim is a retired sports reporter and editor, and author of the Vietnam memoir "Heroes to the End." Lynn is a former graphic artist, and is a social worker with a private practice. The Smiths are adoptive parents. Their son, Peter, who is 31 years old, is an air traffic controller in Westlake, Ohio.

Jim speaks Spanish and enjoys being corrected by cabdrivers. They heard about Marsh's Children's Home from guests at the Mayan Palace hotel in Acapulco, where they have had a timeshare for 20 years.

During their recent visit, Jim and Lynn brought textbooks and underwear and
were impressed by the Children and by Mamá Jovita. They hope to Visit with Donated items when they return. Jim and Lynn Love Mexico and are very fond of Mexican people and Mexican Culture. "We hope for the best for the Mexican nation and its people", Jim remarked.

Today Nathan T. Freeman and I, Lisa Freeman, did something we never thought we would be able to do. We were able to buy Christmas presents for 70 kids from the Marsh Home for children. Our Christmas Celebration was donated on behalf of Nathan & Lisa Freeman there daughter {name}, age 10, their son {name} age 7, and their youngest addition to the family, Ira Belle, 15 months.

We were told it was a first for them as most of the things they have at the home have been donated. The children were super excited to be able to pick out the exact thing that they personally wanted. What an amazing feeling to be able to do this for them. Tears all around....

The younger kids wanted to get toys from the toy store where the older boys and girls were more interested in getting personal items like clothing and shoes.

In the future we plan on doing more to help out the Marsh Home.

What an incredible feeling!

Hi! My name is Jennie Gusberti. I was vacationing in Acapulco this past March. I had the opportunity to visit and help out at the Marsh Children's Home. Jovita Godínez, the head of the orphanage is an amazing lady. She secures the well being of 70 children under her care. The children are bright, happy and responsible children.

There is a chores chart where all have daily chores to do. I felt so fortunate because I got to spend lots of time with the children. We worked on their homework, they read to me in Spanish, we cut out snowflakes, we coloured and drew pictures, they played  Math games on my iPad, they practiced their numbers and we just visited.  The older children were so interested in how to say things in English.

The children's smiles and laughter were heartwarming!

I attended Sunday mass with them. It was an inspiration to hear youths singing and playing instruments. In fact, many of the children now participate in the Bonfil Philharmonic Orchestra. The entire congregation's participation lifted my spirits. I even got to ride with the children in their school bus.

Such a memorable experience! I recommend to anyone who visits Acapulco to get involved and help out the wonderful and bright children at this amazing and worthwhile institution.
