Children visit "La Avispa" Interactive Museum in Chilpancinco

LA AVISPA: In early July, we just had to try out our new bus on the highway, so we piled 62 kids, Lalo and Jovita, and with Ricardo at the helm drove to Chilpancingo to visit the Children’s interactive museum and then lunch at the kid’s favorite restaurant, “McDonalds”.

Children visit "Circo Union" en ?????????

CIRCUS:
we got an invitation to “Circo Union” by the DIF’s District Attorney for Child Welfare. What a surprise for them as none of the new children had ever been to a circus! None had ever seen an elephant or tiger up close, and the kids were in the front row!

Children visit "Isla de Roqueta" in Glass Bottom Boats

ROQUETA ISLAND: We piled all the kids in the new bus and a van and took them to the pier downtown to go to Roqueta Island for a swim and a picnic. Again, most of the new kids had never been in a boat. Thanks to MARTIN RAMOS, owner of the VICTORIA GLASS BOTTOM BOATS, who kindly invited us. It was rainy and windy as we left the pier, but the kids were so enthused about the outing they were not about to let a little rain interfere. On arrival at the island, they all jumped into a soup-warm ocean and didn’t mind the drizzle which soon quit anyway. It was an incredible day!

Meliza leaves for College in Mexico City

COLLEGE: Meliza left for Mexico City to go to college shortly after returning from Peru. We miss her as she was a great help with the younger children. She had been at The Marsh Children's Home for over 10 years!

Meliza & Yurisan return from Cusco, Peru

STUDENT EXCHANGE: Meliza and Yurisan returned from their exchange in Cusco, Peru after several weeks there. It was an eye opening experience for them. They had to adapt to the cold (It’s winter there), the food and many new things. They came back with many new friends and a better understanding of life in a children’s home elsewhere.

Many thanks to the Hogar San Pedro, Sister Corazon, Sister Edhy and all the Nuns and girls for making the visit unique! Jovita stayed one week in Cusco. She even got to go to Macchu Picchu! The Sisters of Mercy were delightful hosts. The girls from the Hogar San Pedro put on a water color exhibition. Jovita, Ricardo, Jim Evans and Jan Waring were asked to be Judges. Hard task as all the paintings were outstanding! Many thanks to JIM EVANS and JAN WARING for outfitting our girls and Jovita with brand new cold weather clothes and helping out with many of the expenses.
