LEGAL
STATUS
Hogar
Infantil Marsh, A.C. is the legal name of
the orphanage located in the municipality of Playa Bonfil,
in the southern suburbs of Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico.
Currently, due to new federal requirements within Mexico,
we are making an important transition of legal status
there, from A.C. (Civil Association), to I.A.P. (Institution
under Private Subsistence). Although A.C., as well as
I.A.P., is an approved legal status for non-profit institutions
within Mexico; the change to I.A.P. is significant,
because it will facilitate delivery of funds from outside
the country. We anticipate this transition will be completed
shortly.
Marsh Children's Home Inc. is a non-profit
corporation located in the United States. It was established
in October 2006 for fund-raising within the U.S. The
current purpose of raising funds on the U.S. side of
the border is to sustain the Hogar Infantil Marsh, A.C.
orphanage, located in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico.
In August 2007, the United States Internal Revenue Service
(IRS) approved the application of Marsh Children’s
Home Acapulco, Inc. to establish itself as a 501(c)(3)
Non-Profit Corporation within the U.S. With this important
approval, we can now accept tax-exempt charitable donations
from U.S. individuals, organizations and businesses.
Thus, we hope to attract more support for the Marsh
Home Orphanage in Acapulco on the U.S. side of the border.
To summarize – it is important to emphasize that
we are two different legal entities in the respective
countries, approved to operate as charitable, non-profit
organizations on both sides of the border; but we share
a singular goal, which is that of improving the lives
and wellbeing of abused and/or abandoned young children
and adolescents in Acapulco, Mexico and its surrounding
areas. |
