Name: ANA CLAUDIA _____ HERNANDEZ VAZQUEZ Age: 11 Birthday: July 15, 1996 Gender: Female Anna is from the small village of San Rafael, high in the southern part of the Sierra Madre mountain range. She likes to embroider cloth napkins, wash clothes (she won’t let anybody wash her clothes, in fact!). Since she just arrived here with us, she’s still trying to get adjusted, and doesn’t like to go to school yet, because she’s ashamed of not being able to read and write, like the other kids. She has two brothers: Ricardo and Alberto.

Name: JOHNATHAN LOPEZ ARTEAGA Age: 8 Birthday: March 7, 1999 Gender: Male Jonathan is happy, since he’s now able to be together with his brother, so nobody can keep them apart. He loves to play soccer, and even though he doesn’t yet know how to swim, he says he also likes the swimming pool. Jonathan and his brother don’t know who their father is, and say that they want to go to school, since their mother asked them to do so. She has no means of taking care of her boys, so their welfare depends on the Marsh Home.

Name: MARISELA BAUTISTA CRESCENCIO Age: 14 Birthday: June 6, 1993 Gender: Female Marisela, “aunt” to five younger brothers, loves to play basketball, but says she cannot find anyone to play with her, thus we’ll find them for her! She loves to swing for long periods in the afternoon, and enjoys just watching the ocean. She is just finishing Middle School, but still feels a little lonely, since she just recently arrived to live with us at the Marsh Home.

Name: FEDERICO MORENO OLIVERA Age: 12 Birthday: August 1, 1995 Gender: Male Federico wanted to come live with us and arrived here on his own, leaving his brothers who had to stay behind in the village. He loves attending school, and states that he knew all about the help he could find here at the Marsh Home and realized that he wouldn’t lack for anything, like he did in his own home. He wants to be a singer; in fact he spends everyday singing!

Name: EPIFANIA MARTINEZ MTZ Age: 16 Birthday: February 6, 1991 Gender: Female Epifania loves to cook and learn as many things as she can. She is very happy at the Marsh Home and says that in her village she had no opportunity to attend school, didn’t have a clean, nice place to stay, and nowhere adequate to sleep; in fact, her home lacked many things. She is very enthusiastic about studying and becoming successful in a career.

Name: CARMELO MARTINEZ Age: 14 Birthday: November 21, 1993 Gender: Male Carmelo, Epifania’s brother, is fascinated by swimming and loves to play in the pool. He likes to go out and visit interesting places, and especially the swimming pool at Uncle Ricardo’s house, because it has a slide! When he grows up he wants to be a school teacher or a lawyer, so he can help his friends and family.
